Our Honey Bee Adventures
It's Meant to Bee
|
In 2017, Chastain staff began an after hours side project, raising honeybees. Thanks to one of our own who has experience as a beekeeper, they constructed and utilized Schaumburg's Bee Yard to place three hives in the bee yard. The bees came from California in a little two pound cage which held approximately 7,000 buzzing bees including their queen. At full strength one hive can get up to 80,000 bees. The bees took residency in their new homes on April 12. Today, the hives are thriving, growing and producing honey. They have been documenting their journey along-the-way, and hope you find this project as interesting and educational as they have.
In the video above, you can see the worker bees coming back to the hive with the pollen they have collected on their legs.

After Hours
Chastain's Schaumburg office enjoyed an evening out at the Schaumburg Boomers Stadium. It was a great evening for baseball filled with plenty of food, drinks and laughter.
