Resident Engineer - Schaumburg, IL
Job Description:
Chastain has several positions available for a professional resident engineer with five or more years of construction management experience in municipal and/or local agency reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. These positions are full-time positions from our Schaumburg office with projects located in the Chicago Metro area.
Job Responsibilities:
The resident engineer will perform a variety of engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within the civil engineering discipline. Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to management, supervision, and coordination of entire construction process, coordination with client, contractors, and all subconsultants, managing project schedule and budgets, interpreting designs and specifications as required, problem resolution, and perform or ensure quality control is accomplished for each project. Responsibilities may also include construction observation, documentation, and preparation of pay estimates. Candidate should have a working knowledge of storm sewer construction, culverts and retaining walls, pavement construction as well as bridge substructure and superstructures.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, be eligible to get licensed in the State of Illinois, and have five or more years of experience in construction inspection. Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are required. The candidate would have completed and passed IDOT Documentation class, as well as the IDOT QA/QC Technician training classes. Project experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, or Chicago is a plus.
