Job Description Chastain has an immediate opening for a Resident Engineer with five or more years of construction inspection experience in municipal and/or local agency reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. This position is full-time from our Schaumburg, Illinois office location with projects located in the Chicago Metro area.
Job Responsibilities The Resident Engineer will perform various engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within the civil engineering discipline. Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to: management, supervision and coordination of the entire construction process, coordination with client, contractors and all subconsultants, managing the project schedule and budget, interpreting designs and specifications as required, problem resolution, and performing or ensuring QA is completed for each project. Responsibilities may also include construction observation, documentation, and preparation of pay estimates. The candidate will have a working knowledge of storm sewer construction, culverts and retaining walls, pavement construction, as well as bridge substructure and superstructures.
Job Requirements The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, be licensed in the State of Illinois as a Professional Engineer, and have five or more years of experience in construction inspection. Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are required. The candidate must have completed and passed IDOT Documentation class, as well as IDOT QA/QC Technician training classes. Project experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT is a plus.
