Chastain & Associates LLC (Chastain) has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer working with public or private infrastructure projects for our Decatur, Rockford or Champaign Office. Qualified candidates will work in a collaborative environment with our team and alongside clients from private to municipal, state, and federal jurisdictions.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience working on replacements and/or repairs of bridges and box culverts for IDOT, County Highway Departments and Municipalities.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Structural Engineer (SE) License, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience managing, leading, and mentoring employees.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for fostering and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Ability to market, obtain and project current and future workloads.
- Establish and maintain scope and project budgets.
- Ability to effectively communicate project expectations and goals with staff and clients (written and verbal).
- Conduct on-site inspections and prepare necessary structure condition report.
- Interpret specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team.
- Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on all projects to uphold Chastain’s principle of superior service to all our clients.
- Oversee and mentor staff and assist other departments within Chastain with project support.
- Manage client relationships and actively cultivate new business connections.
- Ability to perform design on non-bridge work such as building and industrial is a plus but not required.
