City of Paris
Tiger Senior Apartments, Paris, Illinois
From Vacant to a Community Asset. This exciting project checked all the development boxes: Historic Adaptive Reuse of a 100+ year old High School? Check. Filling a need for low-income senior housing? Check. Finding and securing funding? Check. Now known as the Tiger Senior Apartments, the former Paris High School, now offers modern comfort wrapped within historic architectural designs that give the building character for a unique living experience. The project kept the as much of the original structure as possible, including the hard wood floors and built in shelves. The structure is also within walking distance of the downtown, the library and several other services. Francis & Associates, an Affiliate of Chastain & Associates, worked closely with the developer to secure the gap funding, including Community Development Block Grant Revolving Loan Fund Closeout dollars to design and construct new ADA compliant streets and sidewalk including curb, gutter and storm drains; pedestrian and street lighting; and landscaping and street furniture. Additionally, we assisted the development in securing City TIF funds to cover the cost to design and construct a new ADA asphalt parking lot which is now City owned and leased by the development. In the end, a vacant historic structure that carried many memories by thousands of residents, was given new life to live into the next century. |
