Mill Road Reconstruction, Byron, Illinois
As the City Engineer for this community, Chastain provided Phase II design and Phase III construction engineering services for the full reconstruction of a half mile section and a mill/overlay improvement to another half mile section of this major collector street within the city. Scope of services included design plans, specifications and estimates of cost, as well as, bidding assistance. Design efforts included converting a rural roadway cross section to a new urban section with new closed storm water collection system with improved off-site storm water collection. Storm water design called for a combination of new inlets, storm sewers, cross road culverts, and off-site channelization improvements. Pavement design consisted of a flexible pavement with curb and gutter. Included in the work was new sanitary sewer construction, water main relocation and construction of approximately half mile of extended multi-use path with an asphalt surface. Phase III construction engineering services included full-time construction observation and project close-out documentation. Project was completed in 2014 with an estimated construction cost of $1.5 million. |
