Village of Moweaqua
New Water Treatment Plant Project
Chastain provided project planning, design and construction engineering services for a new water treatment plant and well. The water supply portion of the project included a new 340 gpm well, pump and piping, replacement and upgraded three existing wells, along with a new well control and sampling building. The new water treatment plant will aerate, filter, soften, remove nitrates, and provide chemical treatment to the ground water in order to achieve a viable potable water supply that meets or exceeds water quality standards. Additionally, the project included earth excavation, concrete building foundation, pre-fabricated and site-build buildings, drilling of a new water well, multiple site telemetry, water mains, sanitary and storm sewer, asphalt and concrete pavement replacement, erosion control, grading, and seeding. Scope of services included environmental and site planning. Design included mechanical and electrical systems, equipment selection, architectural and site plans, project management, Illinois EPA loan management, construction layout, construction observation, documentation, and Illinois EPA loan close-out. The entire project was funded through Illinois' EPA State Revolving Water Supply Loan Program. The awarded bid amount was $2,558,567 and was completed under budget. The Village was awarded principle loan forgiveness by the Illinois EPA of $750,000 which reduced the final amount to be financed. The project was completed in 2018. |
