Water Main Improvements, Schaumburg, Illinois
Chastain is providing Phase II design and Phase III construction engineering services for planned water main improvements in the W-Section of the village. Project includes planning and design for replacement of 4,400 feet of 6": water main with new 8" ductile iron pipe. Planning efforts included construction sequencing of 8 connections to the existing water system consisting of both pressure and cut-in connections. The water main project includes the evaluation and recommendations of the applicability of using trenchless technology for the water main work. Final project documents were prepared and bid with both directional drilling and open cut installation options. Scope of work includes survey, planning, design, preparation of bid documents, and construction observation. Communication with residents regarding the project included door hangers at the start of design and a project open house for residential coordination prior to the start of construction.
