US Route 67 Improvements, Madison and Jersey Counties, Illinois
Chastain provided survey and Phase II engineering services for the preparation of contract plans, Special Provisions and estimates for the construction of FAP 310 (US 67) from three miles north of Godfrey to just south of the Jerseyville city limits; a distance of 8.13 miles. The project involved reconstruction of the 2-lane US 67 to a 4-lane divided expressway with areas of full and partial access control, design of a new 4-lane bypass at New Delhi, and three new structures. Survey services included the preparation of Plat of Highways. Over 200 parcels were involved in this project. The work included records research at county recorder offices; review of title commitments and other records provided by the District; designing proposed right-of-way and easements; preparing legal descriptions; and staking the proposed right-of-way in the field. Phase II engineering work included complete drainage design (approximately 24 crossroad culverts), maintenance of traffic, frontage roads, access roads, ramps, and realignment of seven crossroads, preparation of final construction plans, calculation of quantities, special provisions, and estimates. Project consisted of three new structures including a 2 span, 311’, curved 72" plate girder flyover structure with MSE walls and a 54-foot span arch culvert extension. Estimated construction cost is $33 million.
